Mold on walls and ceilings in your apartment?

Mold on walls and ceilings in your apartment?

Mold on walls and ceilings in an apartment or house is a serious problem.

This is harmful to the areas where the mold has grown and can also harm your health.

The most common cause of mold in an apartment is too much humidity. This can be prevented by heating the room more often and ensuring good ventilation.

But if you’ve got mold on your walls and you notice it when it’s too late, KRASO offers advice on removing mold on walls or ceilings in your apartment or home. Proper techniques allow for the removal of mold and restoration of damaged areas. This will require three steps to be followed using the appropriate products:

Step 1 – surface washing

First, the mold area must be thoroughly washed with a special detergent that kills mold bacteria. We recommend using DUFA, an anti-mold product.

Do not clean the mold before applying the product to prevent harmful spores from getting on the intact surface! Spray infected areas from a distance of about 5 cm to 10 cm and rinse with water or allow to dry after 20 minutes. If the mold is severe, this process should be repeated.

Step 2 – Priming the surface with primer

Once the washing work is finished, we recommend treating the wall with KRASO PROJEKT Primer. This high-quality primer is specially formulated to provide excellent adhesion, high coverage, and a fully matte finish on walls and ceilings.

  1. The primer has excellent coverage and filling power, giving the surface a uniform gloss even when repainted once.
  2. Prepare a smooth surface for the application of the finishing color.
  3. KRASO PROJEKT Primer reduces the consumption of finishing paint.

Step 3 – painting the surface with an anti-mould additive

We recommend the KRASO KRASO Projekt 7 Aqua matt or KRASO Projekt 20 Aqua semi-matt paints for painting walls or ceilings, which are exceptionally durable. These paints will also be the best choice for rooms in contact with dirt and exposed to intense room humidity.

KRASO paints, designed for painting on surfaces where mold has been present, guarantee mold will not recur, as they are significantly enriched with “mold inhibiting additives.”

To prevent the mold from returning to your home, ensure that the room where the mold has already been present has sufficient ventilation and is not too humid.
