Application instructions

Priming

• Prime the surface as early as possible in the manufacturing process and patch prime pre-painted wood surfaces with Valtti Primer or Valtti Plus Base Wood Preservative.
• Caution: Treat all surfaces not previously treated or vacuum-impregnated with approved preservatives with Valtti Primer or Valtti Plus Base Wood Preservative.
• Thoroughly treat the ends of the product.

Application conditions

The surface to be treated must be dry, the air temperature must be above +5°C and the relative humidity below 80% during treatment and drying.

Surface Preparation

Remove dirt, mould and peeling material from the untreated surface. Prime the surface as early as possible in the manufacturing process with Valtti Primer or Valtti Plus Base wood preservative. Remove any loose material from pre-treated surfaces with a rag brush. Remove any mould or mildew residues with Tikkurila Homeenpoisto solution according to instructions. Protect any untreated wood surfaces with Valtti Primer or Valtti Plus Base wood preservative. Treat rusting metal parts such as nail heads with Rostex Super anti-corrosion primer.

Painting

Mix the product thoroughly before use. The product is ready to use but can be thinned if necessary. Apply 2 coats with a brush or sprayer, 1 or 2 coats for repair painting depending on the condition of the surface to be painted and tonal differences. For high pressure impregnated wood with light shades, apply 2 or 3 coats. To obtain a uniform coating and to avoid shade differences, provide sufficient paint mixed in one container. Finish the ends of the product carefully.

Wood contains resins and other colouring secretions, especially in the branches. These can cause yellowing of the resin leaching through the dyed surface when exposed to moisture and temperature.

Surface care

After application, handle the surface gently for the first four weeks to allow it to fully cure and reach the final hardness. If necessary, the surface can be lightly cleaned with a soft brush or damp cloth. One month after painting, the surface can be washed with Talon Huoltopesu (1 part Talon Huoltopesu to 10 parts water). Stains and very dirty surfaces can be washed with a stronger Talon Huoltopesu solution (1:1). After washing, rinse the surface with water and allow it to dry.
