Tips for painting

Repainting plinths that have been painted with lime paint

1. Remove the thick lime paint layers using a steel brush or pressure cleaner, so that the plastered surface would not be damaged. Remove the peeling and fragile fragments of plaster. Open all the cracks.
2. Carefully clean the dirty surfaces with a pressure cleaner, not using any cleaning agent. Clean mouldy surfaces, surfaces with lichen, etc., in the direction from bottom to top, using a cleaning agent solution. Rinse the surface with water.
3. Putty the plaster faults level with the surrounding surface, using the same composition of mortar as for the initial foundation. Let the smoothed areas dry.
4. Prime the surfaces using the “wet on wet” method, using a solution of primer and water (1:1).
5. Paint the surface with a mixture of facade paint and primer (2:1).
6. Paint the plinth once with facade paint.
7. Let the surface dry at least for a full 24 hours before painting it again.
8. Clean the tools with water.
