Tips for painting

Repainting wooden windows that have been painted with water-based paint

1. Remove peeling or weakly attached layers of paint using a scraper.
2. Clean dust and dirt from the surfaces, using a dust brush. Remove resin from knot locations using a putty knife.
3. Clean surfaces with a cleaning agent, according to the instructions on the label. Carefully rinse the surfaces and let them dry.
4. Polish the old, strong layer of paint until it becomes matted, and then remove polishing dust with a brush and cloth.
5. Treat the cleaned knot locations with knot varnish.
6. Prime the surfaces that have been cleaned to wood level with primer, diluting it with 5 % solvent.
7. Putty the uneven areas.
8. Polish the treated locations with sandpaper and remove the polishing dust with a brush and cloth.
9. Prime the treated areas with primer.
10. Paint the surfaces once or twice with a paint, diluting it with 10% water if necessary.
11. Clean the tools according to instructions on the label.
