Tips for painting

Restoring varnished ceilings in dry rooms

1. Remove resin from knot locations, and remove peeling and weakly attached layers of varnish using a scraper.
2. Polish the old, strong layer of varnish until it becomes matted, and then remove polishing dust with a brush.
3. Clean surfaces with a cleaning agent, according to the instructions on the label. Carefully rinse the surfaces and let them dry.
4. Treat the cleaned knot locations with an insulation primer.
5. Putty the uneven areas.
6. Polish the treated locations with sandpaper and remove the polishing dust with a brush.
7. Prime the entire surface with primer that has been diluted with solvent (5% of volume).
8. Paint the surface 2-3 times with undiluted paint, using a synthetic bristle brush. The paint may also be applied using a long bristle roller, immediately afterwards treating the surface with a brush. To make the work easier, use a handle extender.
9. Clean the tools according to instructions on the label.
