Tips for painting

Repainting wooden doors that have been painted with solvent-based paint

1. Remove peeling or weakly attached layers of paint using a scraper.
2. Clean dust and dirt from the surfaces, using a dust brush. Remove resin from knot locations using a putty knife.
3. Clean surfaces with a cleaning agent, according to the instructions on the label. Carefully rinse the surfaces and let them dry.
4. Polish the old, strong layer of paint until it becomes matted, and then remove polishing dust with a brush and cloth.
5. Treat the cleaned knot locations with an insulation primer.
6. Prime the surfaces that have been cleaned to wood level or surfaces that were previously treated with catalyzed paint, using a primer diluted with 5% solvent.
7. Putty the uneven areas.
8. Polish the treated locations with sandpaper and remove the polishing dust with a brush and cloth.
9. There are two ways to treat the surfaces. Prime the treated surfaces with primer and paint 2 layers of furniture paint. For the first layer dilute the paint with 10% water.
10. Clean the tools according to instructions on the label.
