Tips for painting

Varnishing wooden windows that have been previously varnished with solvent-based varnish

1. Remove peeling or weakly attached layers of varnish using a scraper.

3. Clean surfaces with a cleaning agent, according to the instructions on the label. Carefully rinse the surfaces and let them dry.
4. Polish the old, strong layer of varnish until it becomes matted, and then remove polishing dust with a brush and cloth.
5. Putty the uneven areas with a putty of an appropriate colour tone.
6. Polish the treated locations with sandpaper and remove the polishing dust with a brush and cloth.
7. Prime the surface with a varnish that has been diluted with approx. 20% solvent.
8. Lightly polish the surface between varnishing and remove the polishing dust with a brush and cloth.
9. Varnish the surface twice.
